1. Miata
2. Gated manuals
3. Wagons
4. Hot hatches
5. FRS/BRZ
6. Straight pipes (because everyone will hate you if you live in a city)
7. Low weight sports cars in non curvy road places. Everything can’t be sub 3000lbs. Let’s find a new standard please?

Why is it a bad thing to have something that weighs less than 3000lbs even if you don’t have curvy roads? You still get better fuel economy.

1. sure
2. no. For their rarity alone they are adequately rated.
3. NO! Sorry but I’m shopping for a new wagon right now and no...there is no substitute for a wagon.
4. adequately rated - people who like them like them
5. Maybe
6. Straight pipes only belong on racetrack
7. Nope, light makes right. Now getting to sub 3000 isn’t realistic but a small light car just does all things but get crashed into better.

8. Convertibles (I’d like a chance to survive if my car flips)
9. Hellcats (275 rear tires for a car that will only ever see straight roads?)
10. Panther platform (We get it, its got the police tune. Now go fix your steering rack, IAC valve, and intake manifold)

I agree with everything except for the low weight bit. Everything else is certainly overplayed here and elsewhere, and quite subjective. But having a sub 3000 pound car is a universally good thing. Now maybe underpowered, lightweight cars are overrated to some people, but being lightweight and ludicrous powered, now that is something special!

Man, you might as well have said “AMERICA” because them is fightin words! Even crappy thin sliced bacon from the store is great. But get some fresh cut, thick sliced, maple infused bacon - then you have something amazing!
Whatever is in Carbonara recipes though puts normal bacon to shame. My mind was blown in Italy with that stuff, best meal of the trip!

roll bars can fix the convertibles are death machines issue. I think convertibles are underrated. But not for the reasons you may think. Convertibles in nice weather are definitely overrated. However, convertibles in the snow, rain, and extreme cold are quite underrated!

7. Sure. Let’s set a new standard. 3000 lb is still very heavy. I say it’s not light until it’s under 2000 lb and still carries at least two people. Are they good on multilane highways? No. But they’re light. 3000 lb is not light in my mind.

How are wagons benefits over hyped? I freakin’ love wagons because I can get either my drumset or a full coffin case with dj equipment, speakers and sub. This stuff wouldn’t even come close to fitting in any sedan/coupe with a trunk.

it wasn’t bad, but it was massively overhyped to me. I’m in MI, so they don’t operate here. I kept reading on message boards how awesome they were, so I found one the first time I went to Vegas. afterward I was like “That’s it? It’s a fast-food burger. Big whoop.”
oh and their fries suck. You can’t get a good french fry out of a single-step cook.
White Castle is nasty. If I’m going for sliders, it’s from a place which looks like this:

Apples and oranges - the Tahoe drives like a truck. Wagons are still cars and handle as such.

Sure, but if you like those cars, then what’s your problem with wagons? I still don’t understand. I asked you why wagons are overrated and you say because crossovers can do it too. Okay, well then how are crossovers not rated? I’m just not understanding your beef with wagons. I’m not wondering what other cars are like wagons, I’m just wondering why you think wagons are overrated.

There’s no beef with wagons. It says they’re great but offset hyped. As they are on this site and others described as the great end all be all. How often is something turned into a shooting brake? everything is better as a wagon many proclaim. When fact they are uglier and wouldn’t be as useful as proclaimed.

Over-hyped begause they are the uggo and for more people than many will around here will admit, that extra space is wasted.
However, I can agree that a lift-back > trunk.
